Jnana Sweekar Public School, Kanakapura Road, Bangalore
Posted on June 28th, 2009 31 comments
Jnana Sweekar Public School (JSPS) is a fairly new school situated on kanakapura road. Its probably about 5-6 kms from Metro. We got our daughter admitted to this school for the 2009-10 academic year for II standard. In this blog, I would like to share our thinking behind choosing this school for our daughter.
1. We looked at the people who were involved in creating this school. One of the well known names - Former Chief Justice M.N.Venkatachalaih who has been heading various value based systems/forums is the chairman.
2. Our daughter studied in a Montessori school till the 1st standard. We were very happy with the montessori approach and JSPS follows this method upto 2nd std. They then transition the children to the traditional method of teaching.
3. Infrastructure: The quality of materials, instruments used in the montessori sections is good. They have a lot of facilities in their sufficiently big campus like a huge library, swimming pool, a full sized football ground, A/V Room, most of the Indoor games and many more.
Our daughter has been going to this school for about a month now and is quite happy. She is specifically excited about the P.T class where kids can play games in the ground or auditorium or do yoga etc.

Even i would like to share some of my views about this school. We are looking for first std admission for my kid for 2010. We checked out schools around DPS,Bikasipura. They were decent but we were not impressed. Later, last week we visited JSPS. I must say it was an experience. One day it would challenge some of the best schools in bangalore. Facilities are awesome. This looks like a school/college where there is lot of space, natural light, facilities and focus is on sports & education.
We met the principal and had a long discussion. We were impressed with the staff. For a long term education, JSPS seems to be an option given all NPS/DPS/Kumarans are filled with sibling applications.
We were amazed to see tennis court, huge library, indoor games and other facilities.
They should focus on getting good teachers in the near future for all class levels. We are infact looking to confirm the seat this week.

I agree with the post above. Infrastructure wise, this school is on par or better than other schools. If JSPS can get their teaching levels on par with some of the other good schools, they will give other schools a run for their money.

@ajadmin:
I would like to know few things here since you are already associated with JSPS.Actually, we are staying near Vidyapeeta Circle. This is about 10kms from JSPS. Only worry is my kid have take bus at 7.15am and returns around 4pm.
I am parallely checking with near by Aurobindo/JSS/Apollo schools. But, I am not satified with them.
At one hand, i want to send my kid to good school which has quality education and time for extra-curricular. For me JSPS suited the best other than Kumarans.
We did not try Kumarans since they said the age criteria does not meet their requirement. And Kumarans is too academic centric.
On the other hand, my concern is that my kid have to travel 20kms every day to & fro. It would be tiring as well.
Is there any canteen facility in the campus?
Is the security good within the school for handling unforeseen issues?
How is the quality of teaching staff? Is it improving?Whats your suggestion?
This would help me & my wife to decide which route to take.

Hi!
Its been an year since you’ve admitted your child to Jnana Sweekar. Are you satisfied with the school, quality of teaching etc? How is the Montessori at JSPS? Kindly update with more feedback!
Thanks!

Meghna,
We were very impressed about the facilities/infrastructure at the school. We inspected the apparatus for Montessori and they were all high quality. We hear the teaching for montessori is also good. For higher classes, its OK; there is scope for improvement. Starting this year, our daughter will go to PSBB for Class III which is closer to our place of stay.

Thanks ajadmin!
Which one will you recommend - JSPS or PSBB?
Both the schools are >5 kms from our residence and both have seats available as of now. -
Hi!
We are also considering this school for Montessori. How is the teaching quality? Is there stress on Extra curricular? Hows the over all development?
Thanks!!
-
@ NKonanoor,
have you got answers for your questions? because i too have similar concerns. which school have u joined your kid?
@ajadmin,

@ajadmin
Even I wanted to know for changing from JSPS apart from proximity. Can you plase share.

Like I indicated in some of the comments above, we were happy with the infrastructure that the school provides; but felt the quality of teaching was not on par with some of the other well known schools. Thats another reason for changing the school.
Someone posted a question about Montessori - Our daughter did not study in the JSPS Montessori, but we found the quality of Montessori apparatus and instruments to be very good during our inspection before admission. You will have to collect data from someone who has their kid admitted there.
Every parent has different types of expectations in terms of what a school should provide and evaluate pros-cons differently. We have met parents whose main criteria is that School should be at walkable distance; and its fine if the teaching is average or above-average. There are parents who need the best teaching no matter how far the school is. We have given our experience; its upto the reader to take a suitable decision after collecting information from different sources.
-
@ajadmin - Thanks for the inputs!

There are many good schools in Bangalore and new ones emerging everyday, so it is impossible for everyone to know which one are good. But i find correct information about schools in Bangalore which gives contact information, map-based location of the school and much more

Hi,
I would like to know from parents if Jnanasweekar Public School is really as good as it looks on the website. Also, since I am looking for admission for my son for I std and I am inclined towards CBSE it would be helpful if somebody could compare this school with PSBB (since that is my other choice)or even Kumarans -
Stiil no response from anybody regarding Jnanasweekar Public School
-
Yesterday we visited Jnanasweekar Public school and also submitted application for admission to first std. Today we got a response saying my son is cleared for admission and we can confirm the same by paying the admission fee of 35k. Infrastructure wise the school is on par with the best. Strength in classes is also less (20-25) They have smart class facility with each floor having two rooms dedicated for this purpose. The teachers we saw seemed friendly enough, especially the 1st std teachers who were sitting on the floor with their students during their lunch break! What I would like to know is whether the teaching is also on par with better known schools….. such as PSBB etc
Parents of kids studying in this school or friends of such parents, please respond as we have to confirm within this month end and no other school we have seen has even opened admissions so far….. we dont want to make a hasty decision neither do we want to miss an opportunity! -
ajadmin September 17th, 2011 at 09:03
From what we have heard from other parents, teaching has improved a lot in JSPS; but I understand that it is not on par with PSBB.
-
Thanks ajadmin, at least you say it has improved…..
PSBB was my first choice also. But they open in Dec, so I am confused if I should wait and loose JSPS or just go ahead….. your advice? -

I am on this page, obviously because I am looking out for a good school for my daughter (I std).
I personally visited the school today. As mentioned by many (on this page), no second thoughts on Infrastructure and sports facilities.
I read few comments saying teaching is not on par with the other schools and further I also read that it has improved a lot.
My personal belief is, this is just 3 year old school and they will improve for sure given the stake of the reputation of the management. I am more inclined towards JSPS. I believe, till III standard we dont have to worry too much on the quality as any one can teach as long as the mehtodology used is to one’s liking. I believe, in next 3 years (by then my daughter would be in 4th std), school will be on par with other good schools as far as teaching is concerned. Again, this is purely my (blind) belief.

Last week my bought application form from JSPS. Considering the distance we are not opting that school as we stay too far from there. Anybody wants application for free of charge, please contact me @ nara_rao@yahoo.com. Iam available in BSK 2nd Stage & JP Nagar 24th main area to collect from me. We paid Rs.500/- and I feel it should be used by some one. Thanks.

We just finished admission in JSPS for our son for Ist std and I must say a big headache off!

Dear Friends,
I am backing out from JSPS purely because of the distance. I am trying in BGS. BGS is issuing application forms.
-
which class are you trying for? BGS had stopped issuing forms for 1st std as on sept 13th
-
Veerendra October 26th, 2011 at 04:48
Dear Suman,
I am trying for I Std. I believe, you have been miscommunicated. I approached school last week and I got the application.
Written Test has been scheduled for 28th Oct and admission is scheduled for 2nd Nov.
To be on the same page, I am referring to BGS which is on Uttarahalli Main Road (behind BGS Hospital).
You can reach me on 98861 57555 or at veerendra.baligeri@gmail.com, if you think a conversation would give you more info.
Regards,

I was referring to the BGS NPS on Baneerghatta road, good luck with your admissions…
