Jnana Sweekar Public School, Kanakapura Road, BangalorePosted on June 28th, 2009 48 comments
Jnana Sweekar Public School (JSPS) is a fairly new school situated on kanakapura road. Its probably about 5-6 kms from Metro. We got our daughter admitted to this school for the 2009-10 academic year for II standard.
In this blog, I would like to share our thinking behind choosing this school for our daughter.
1. We looked at the people who were involved in creating this school. One of the well known names – Former Chief Justice M.N.Venkatachalaih who has been heading various value based systems/forums is the chairman.
2. Our daughter studied in a Montessori school till the 1st standard. We were very happy with the montessori approach and JSPS follows this method upto 2nd std. They then transition the children to the traditional method of teaching.
3. Infrastructure: The quality of materials, instruments used in the montessori sections is good. They have a lot of facilities in their sufficiently big campus like a huge library, swimming pool, a full sized football ground, A/V Room, most of the Indoor games and many more.
Our daughter has been going to this school for about a month now and is quite happy. She is specifically excited about the P.T class where kids can play games in the ground or auditorium or do yoga etc.

Even i would like to share some of my views about this school. We are looking for first std admission for my kid for 2010. We checked out schools around DPS,Bikasipura. They were decent but we were not impressed. Later, last week we visited JSPS. I must say it was an experience. One day it would challenge some of the best schools in bangalore. Facilities are awesome. This looks like a school/college where there is lot of space, natural light, facilities and focus is on sports & education.
We met the principal and had a long discussion. We were impressed with the staff. For a long term education, JSPS seems to be an option given all NPS/DPS/Kumarans are filled with sibling applications.
We were amazed to see tennis court, huge library, indoor games and other facilities.
They should focus on getting good teachers in the near future for all class levels.
We are infact looking to confirm the seat this week.

I agree with the post above. Infrastructure wise, this school is on par or better than other schools. If JSPS can get their teaching levels on par with some of the other good schools, they will give other schools a run for their money.

I would like to know few things here since you are already associated with JSPS.
Actually, we are staying near Vidyapeeta Circle. This is about 10kms from JSPS. Only worry is my kid have take bus at 7.15am and returns around 4pm.
I am parallely checking with near by Aurobindo/JSS/Apollo schools. But, I am not satified with them.
At one hand, i want to send my kid to good school which has quality education and time for extra-curricular. For me JSPS suited the best other than Kumarans.
We did not try Kumarans since they said the age criteria does not meet their requirement. And Kumarans is too academic centric.
On the other hand, my concern is that my kid have to travel 20kms every day to & fro. It would be tiring as well.
Is there any canteen facility in the campus?
Is the security good within the school for handling unforeseen issues?
How is the quality of teaching staff? Is it improving?
Whats your suggestion?
This would help me & my wife to decide which route to take.

Its been an year since you’ve admitted your child to Jnana Sweekar. Are you satisfied with the school, quality of teaching etc? How is the Montessori at JSPS? Kindly update with more feedback!
ajadmin May 28th, 2010 at 10:14
We were very impressed about the facilities/infrastructure at the school. We inspected the apparatus for Montessori and they were all high quality. We hear the teaching for montessori is also good. For higher classes, its OK; there is scope for improvement. Starting this year, our daughter will go to PSBB for Class III which is closer to our place of stay.
Meghna June 4th, 2010 at 12:11
Which one will you recommend – JSPS or PSBB?
Both the schools are >5 kms from our residence and both have seats available as of now.
We are also considering this school for Montessori. How is the teaching quality? Is there stress on Extra curricular? Hows the over all development?
have you got answers for your questions? because i too have similar concerns. which school have u joined your kid?
you have given a lot of info about JSPS. thanks for it! apart from the proximity, any other strong reason to pull your kid out of JSPS? I too am contemplating about JSPS and looking at it as a long term school. I live in BSK 2ndstg. Your feedback will be of great help to us…
which school have you joined your kid to? pls give me your inputs too…

I’m thinking of putting my daughter to JSPS. Montessori looks good. I just wanted to know about the education from class 1 onwards
parent November 18th, 2010 at 06:50
Even I wanted to know for changing from JSPS apart from proximity. Can you plase share.
ajadmin November 18th, 2010 at 18:51
Like I indicated in some of the comments above, we were happy with the infrastructure that the school provides; but felt the quality of teaching was not on par with some of the other well known schools. Thats another reason for changing the school.
Someone posted a question about Montessori – Our daughter did not study in the JSPS Montessori, but we found the quality of Montessori apparatus and instruments to be very good during our inspection before admission. You will have to collect data from someone who has their kid admitted there.
Every parent has different types of expectations in terms of what a school should provide and evaluate pros-cons differently. We have met parents whose main criteria is that School should be at walkable distance; and its fine if the teaching is average or above-average. There are parents who need the best teaching no matter how far the school is. We have given our experience; its upto the reader to take a suitable decision after collecting information from different sources.
@ajadmin – Thanks for the inputs!
There are many good schools in Bangalore and new ones emerging everyday, so it is impossible for everyone to know which one are good. But i find correct information about schools in Bangalore which gives contact information, map-based location of the school and much more
I would like to know from parents if Jnanasweekar Public School is really as good as it looks on the website. Also, since I am looking for admission for my son for I std and I am inclined towards CBSE it would be helpful if somebody could compare this school with PSBB (since that is my other choice)or even Kumarans
Stiil no response from anybody regarding Jnanasweekar Public School
Yesterday we visited Jnanasweekar Public school and also submitted application for admission to first std. Today we got a response saying my son is cleared for admission and we can confirm the same by paying the admission fee of 35k. Infrastructure wise the school is on par with the best. Strength in classes is also less (20-25) They have smart class facility with each floor having two rooms dedicated for this purpose. The teachers we saw seemed friendly enough, especially the 1st std teachers who were sitting on the floor with their students during their lunch break! What I would like to know is whether the teaching is also on par with better known schools….. such as PSBB etc
Parents of kids studying in this school or friends of such parents, please respond as we have to confirm within this month end and no other school we have seen has even opened admissions so far….. we dont want to make a hasty decision neither do we want to miss an opportunity!
ajadmin September 17th, 2011 at 09:03
From what we have heard from other parents, teaching has improved a lot in JSPS; but I understand that it is not on par with PSBB.
Thanks ajadmin, at least you say it has improved…..
PSBB was my first choice also. But they open in Dec, so I am confused if I should wait and loose JSPS or just go ahead….. your advice?
Veerendra October 8th, 2011 at 08:31
I am on this page, obviously because I am looking out for a good school for my daughter (I std).
I personally visited the school today. As mentioned by many (on this page), no second thoughts on Infrastructure and sports facilities.
I read few comments saying teaching is not on par with the other schools and further I also read that it has improved a lot.
My personal belief is, this is just 3 year old school and they will improve for sure given the stake of the reputation of the management. I am more inclined towards JSPS. I believe, till III standard we dont have to worry too much on the quality as any one can teach as long as the mehtodology used is to one’s liking. I believe, in next 3 years (by then my daughter would be in 4th std), school will be on par with other good schools as far as teaching is concerned. Again, this is purely my (blind) belief.

Last week my bought application form from JSPS. Considering the distance we are not opting that school as we stay too far from there. Anybody wants application for free of charge, please contact me @ firstname.lastname@example.org. Iam available in BSK 2nd Stage & JP Nagar 24th main area to collect from me. We paid Rs.500/- and I feel it should be used by some one. Thanks.
We just finished admission in JSPS for our son for Ist std and I must say a big headache off!
Veerendra October 18th, 2011 at 12:44
I am backing out from JSPS purely because of the distance. I am trying in BGS. BGS is issuing application forms.
which class are you trying for? BGS had stopped issuing forms for 1st std as on sept 13th
Veerendra October 26th, 2011 at 04:48
I am trying for I Std. I believe, you have been miscommunicated. I approached school last week and I got the application.
Written Test has been scheduled for 28th Oct and admission is scheduled for 2nd Nov.
To be on the same page, I am referring to BGS which is on Uttarahalli Main Road (behind BGS Hospital).
You can reach me on 98861 57555 or at email@example.com, if you think a conversation would give you more info.
I was referring to the BGS NPS on Baneerghatta road, good luck with your admissions…

Any information regarding the teaching quality from 4th standard onwards at JSPS. Any information would be of great help.
Please let me know if your kid is still studying in JSPS and how is the quality of coaching. Thanks. Kindly request others also to share their personal reviews about the school.
Those who have admitted there kids to this school would have completed a year. Please provide you feedback on this school. It would be very helpful.

My son is studying in Montessori in Jnana Sweekar Public School. It is one of the best schools in Bangalore offering real Montessori method of teaching. They have well qualified teachers. They do not pressurize the children and make the learning process very enjoyable. My son is very eager to go to school everyday. They take care of the children very nicely. The infrastructure provided by the school is the best. They understand the potential of each child and teach them accordingly. The school conduct regular parent teacher meeting, so that we will get to know about our child. Montessori system which they follow is very well organized and systematic. My son has improved a lot in his overall development , especially in his communication. My suggestion to all the parents of Jnana Sweekar students is that we all can play our role by putting reviews in websites so that other new parents will get more information about the school and it will help in the development of the school as well as overall growth of our children.
Hi Sreelatha! where were you all this time I was really glad to see your post! I have been waiting for somebody to give a really positive comment on JSPS and so far yours is the most! My son will be joining JSPS for 1st std from June 2012. We have already confirmed the admission after speaking to a few parents and looking at the infrastructure. Still your post has reassured me that the choice we made was right! My son is also going to a montessori right now and is used to the easy atmosphere there…. My only worry was how he will react to regular school. this was taken care of by the principal and Ma’m Beena who assured me that the transition will be gradual. I am hoping so….
Thanks for the reassuring post. Let this be an example for other parents too

My daughter was in preschool (Jumbo kids) so far and we have put her in JSPS this year (Std 1). Review from all of you guys about this school has really helped me to decide. I was quite surprised to look over the infrastructure.. very impressive. We were sitting near reception area and that time only, school got over. I could see the discipline in children… They are disciplined, very well cared by teacher and I made my choice in no time.
Sreelatha February 14th, 2012 at 07:41
Thank You Suman…I am really glad to share my experience with others. I was also like you before joining my son to JSPS and was eagerly waiting for positive comments. I am very happy that my feed back gave you more assurance about your choice for your son’s school. This school is one of the best schools in Bangalore and can become a leader in providing quality education in a short period of time by utilizing its infrastructure, facilities and staff through the proper administration

I am also considering JSPS for my child. When researching through online for reviews for feedback, I found golumolu dot in and ‘Parentree dot in’ to have some informaiton on JSPS.
I am impressed by Suman, you have been consistent and committed in finding feedback about JSPS for your child and in the process generated good online info/feedback about this school for other Parents. Thank you!
When I started getting positive feel, I then found another discussion on Zeesksha which is distrubing. There has been some changes in recent time to school’s administration staff (Principal/Coordinator) and teacher and parent communities seems to be very unhappy about it (2012).
Is there more information on what is happening? has this issue been resolved?
nanda April 9th, 2012 at 05:15
My daughter has complted her M2 in JSPS. Though I got aware of change in Principal, I did not hear anything on this from anybody.
Attended the school day last month and it was good. All the childeren took part and they all had a chance to perform in a dance.
Teachers give frequent feedback about the child. Slowly they start inculcating discipline also.
Would recommend JSPS
Thanks and Regards
We spoke to the Principal and Co ordinator of JSPS and found that all the bad mouthings were by one dissatisfied teacher and since he has left the staff there is no need for further concern! The Principal has assured us that we have made the right choice by putting our son in JSPS and I, for one trust her.
I would definitely recommend JSPS.

Hi Suman, Nanda & Other Prospective Parents,
I was thinking to put my child in JSPS from 3rd Std. And its been little long that I really followed up on JSPS. I was very keen 2yrs back. But, I want to check out now if JSPS has improved from 2yrs and on what areas.
Last time, I was there. I liked the Montessori one. But, found some of the teachers from 1st std were not up to the mark.
Are there any tennis classes going on?
Are they making good use of sports facility?
Are they concentrating on overall development of kids?
How is it compared to Samhita Academy or Christ Academy?
How is PTM meetings going?
Please mail me on firstname.lastname@example.org. Would like to discuss further on fees, coaching, sports etc.
I know its too late. Called up admin folks and are open to 3rd Std admission. Appreciate your feedbacks please.
At least for Montessori, swimming classees are there and video-room sessions take place. Also we were invited to an observation session where can observe how activites are assigned to our child and how they are doing it. Also the teacher discusses with us regarding childs progress and feedback at regular basis. At the end of the year, all the materials created by our child is handed over to us along with assessment

Good to see so much of discussion about JSPS. We visisted the school last week for our daughter to get her admitted to Mont. Found the school very impressive. However, there are a few postings in the following website that are kind of worrying. Can any of you validate these so that I can make a proper decision. I was called to the school for an interaction with Principal this Friday. The same day I need to take a call whether I should get my daughter admitted.
Here is the site I mentioned.
Appreciate a quick reply for the members above.
You shouldn’t worry about an old issue, that has been resolved. The Principal is very competent disciplinarian. Our son who is in 1st std really likes the school. He enjoys going to school and his teacher is very co-operative.
Well, it’s finally you who has to decide!
Best of Luck.

what is the student-teacher ratio…How is the teaching quality…who are the promoters of the school…what is the fees for 1st std? how about extra curricular activities…are they built into the school time table or do children have to stay back after school hours? my another concern is distance. we stay in jayanagar…its around 12 kms from our place..how is the transport…do they have lady ayahs on every bus…
kindly do clarify my doubts…thanks in advance!!
student teacher ratio is 1:20 in 1st std. My son finds his teachers very good helpful and I have always found them to be co operative although they do not bend rules when it comes to discipline! At least in primary school karate, swimming, dance and music are all integrated in time table. We are put up in BTM and my son has to travel 11kms, but we find it wort the while. There are no lady ayahs for buses as far as I know,But even teachers travel in the same buses so it has not been a problem for us!
