Cydia install problems host not found

Are you facing issues installing cydia apps? Do the installations fail with apt.thebigboss.org host not found or 404 not found or the springboard crashing? You are not alone, there are many who face this issue.

For me, this happened when I tried to install an app called Firewall IP and I had bought a legal copy from cydia store!! My firmware was 3.1.2, jailbroken.

The solution that worked for me was as follows -
a. Enable SSH on your phone
b. login with your desktop ssh client like putty or MobileTerminal on Iphone
c. Issue command “apt-get update”, followed by “apt-get upgrade”
d. This will download missing cydia packages and install
e. Reboot device
f. Go to cydia app and install your new app. It should succeed; atleast it did for me.
