Richard Russell Riordan Jr., better known as Rick Riordan, is an American author who is most famous for the ‘Percy Jackson’ series. I started reading his books in maybe 2013, when I was 11 years old. I started loving books after I read his stories. Most people might think, “Oh, its all about mythology. Surely it’ll be boring.” But no. No way. Rick Riordan writes his stories with that modern touch to it. It has absolutely no ‘Old English’ or anything like that. His writing is very casual and yes, very humorous.

I got my first Percy Jackson book, which happened to be ‘Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief’ on my birthday. That book is one masterpiece, I can tell you that. Usually when I read other books, I just read it for like, 20 to 30 minutes or so, and then I decide to read it later on sometime. But when I started reading the Percy Jackson series, I was glued to it. I didn’t want to stop reading it. I had to remind myself that, “It’s okay, its not going to run away, is it?” I finished his first series, ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ and I also finished the second, ‘Percy Jackson: Heroes of Olympus’. After I finished the first one, I felt, “Wow! That man’s got skills!” And I was looking forward to reading the second series. I finished reading the second series and well, that was even better. Not like I don’t like the first series, I love it. But the second one is my favourite. You can ask me to read it over and over again. Well, no problem!

I, in fact, wanted to become a writer like him someday, but, of course, no one in this world can write like him. He’s also written other series like ‘The Kane Chronicles’ and ‘The Maze of Bones’ series. When I say ‘Master of Myth’, I absolutely mean it. I’m sure everyone else thinks the same. He currently has written on Greek, Roman and Egyptian mythology. His upcoming book releasing this autumn is  ‘Percy Jackson’s Greek Heroes’. And, if you haven’t started reading Rick Riordan’s books yet, better do!
